We match local volunteers to older people living in the borough so to develop inter-generational connections across Fulham. Visits might take place in homes or out in the community.
The service is currently oversubscribed. However, please check back again in July 2020.
Alternatively, please consider our Digital Inclusion service instead.
Following the outbreak of coronavirus all of our befriending matches have transitioned to regular telephone calls.
This is essential at this time and supports us in referring beneficiaries to other FGN and external services.
This project serves those local older and disabled residents who:
- Are unable to decorate by themselves
- Have no one else to ask for this help
- Are unable to pay for this service
We can spend two to three days on each decorating task, including time needed to obtain materials.
Since the project is oversubscribed we prioritise based on need and state of disrepair.
Please complete the Decorating Service Declaration or contact us specifying your request.
Due to the outbreak of Coronavirus we can only consider external work at this time on a case by case, risk assessed basis. As such waiting times will be considerably longer than normal. Thank you for your patience at this time.

The Digital Inclusion project matches local volunteers with older people living in the borough. We aim to support older people to use the internet and other digital technology in a safe and supportive environment.
The project is tailored to your needs via one to one sessions. A friendly volunteer will visit you at home and help with anything from: making a free Skype call to a relative overseas, online shopping, using/setting up tablets or smart phones and much more.
Since the coronavirus lockdown our home visits are on hold. However, please get in touch if you would appreciate support over the telephone; or if you would like to be supported so to attend our online social clubs.

Barney, an experienced professional, leads alll of our Gardening work, supporting older people and people with disabilities who: are unable to garden themselves; have no one else to ask; and are unable to pay privately (full details here). He establised our Gardening Enterprise too, raising funds from those who can afford to pay to: fund the work of those that cannot, and to purchase tools so that we can become increasingly sustainable - in 2022 this included purchase of an onsite composter so to reduce bin-bag waste, and to leave a mulch behind on local gardens.
Our partnership with Nubian Life, Adopt a Garden, provides a basic, regular, upkeep; matching beneficiaries with volunteers. The project includes a befriending element with strong inter-generational relationships forged.
It includes a community garden in the north of the Borough, supporting residents of all ages and particularly ethnic minorities. Research on the project, in partnership with Imperial College London's Environmental Policy Department won a 2022 award at the Healthy City Design International Congress, and was presented in Barcelona at the Urban Transitions Global Summit.
